  I am caregiver to my sister, Rebecca, who is on kidney dialysis. She is awaiting a kidney transplant operation. To receive a kidney you must have several examinations; one being a visit to the dentist to repair or remove teeth that might contain the likelihood of infection. This is important because the body undergoes extreme stress during a transplant operation and the patient must take ant-rejection drugs to keep from rejecting the new kidney. We visited a dentist who was helpful and referred my sister to Dr. Evelyn T. Huaman to have her upper teeth removed. From the moment we walked into the office, the entire staff was friendly, concerned and helpful. Rebecca was informed of everything that would be required to have her teeth removed. An appointment was made for the surgery which was performed by Dr. Jun Flores two weeks later without incidence. She said it was painless and she felt good. She had some swelling the first few days which we treated using ice, smoothies, ice cream and shakes! The entire experience was very professionally handled in every respect. The best part was not having to leave with no teeth! She was fitted with a retainer (complete with teeth) to wear until she healed and gets her new set of uppers. Thank you so much to the doctors and the staff at the Periodontal and Implant Center.
