I don't typically like to write bad reviews, but I feel like this place is worthy. First off, i'm one of those weirdos that enjoys going to the dentist and having my teeth cleaned. I gave them the benefit of the doubt in the beginning, but by my last appointment with them, I kind of felt like they were crooks! My first visit, I thought went pretty well, other than it was the most uncomfortable cleaning that I'd ever had. I hadn't been to the dentist in awhile, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I was getting an "extra cleaning" that wasn't covered by my insurance which cost me $80 out of pocket. I didn't think anything of it, because like i said, I hadn't been to the dentist in awhile. The women there were friendly and helpful. They quoted me for invisalign, which I was happy about even though I told them if it was something that I'd consider, it'd be far into the future. A few weeks later, I went in to get one filling and they filled an area along my gumline that had been bothering me where I had some gum retention. My face was completely numb for several hours after I left. After the numbness finally wore off, my bite was so uneven from the regular filling, I couldn't clench my teeth together. I had to go back in and have them fix it a few days later. The one along the gumline never quite felt right, but i've never had any gum retention or had anything like that done, so i went with it. 6 months later, I went in for a routine cleaning and they said I needed the "extra" $80 cleaning again. I pride myself in taking pretty good care of my teeth and thought it was odd that I needed this again after only 6 months, but I went with it and paid the $80. This time though, it was a different woman and it wasn't so uncomfortable, so that was good. This appointment they were really pushing not only the invisalign, but bleaching as well. I felt like I was being upsold. Also, the lady working the front desk obviously had a really bad cold, and I remember thinking to myself, "maybe wear a mask, if you HAVE to come to work sick since people have their mouth's open all over this place." My final appointment with them was the same lady from the uncomfortable 1st cleaning. I waited over an hour in the waiting room before finally getting called back to have xrays done. Then waited another 30 minutes for my xrays. The lady who took my xrays was very sweet, but I think was still learning because she kept jabbing my gums with the camera device thing and then had to redo several of them because they weren't coming out right - it was so uncomfortable. Finally, the dentist came in and took a 3 second look at my xrays and told me that I need to come back for a deep cleaning. I thought this was really odd - I take good care of my teeth and I had been seeing them for my cleanings every 6 months on the dot since my first visit. Now I suddenly need a deep cleaning? Why was this never mentioned before? I still wanted my regular cleaning done that day, but the dentist said it was the end of her day and she had to go. My appointment was at 3pm - it was now after 5pm. I was very frustrated at this point that I had sat there and waited so long and now she was basically telling me that her shift was over. I waited another 30 minutes for the other lady to quote me on the cost of a deep cleaning - something like $2500 out of pocket. I pretty much decided at that point that I wouldn't be going back. I went and saw another dentist shortly after that because a small part of me was thinking, "what if I really do need a deep cleaning?" No. No deep cleaning necessary and I also learned that they can't tell whether or not you need a deep cleaning by glancing at an xray for 30 seconds - there's a lot more to it. I also had them look at the filling along my gumline because it just never felt quite right. They had to completely redo it, as well as the one other filling that SD Dental Arts had done.
